These Are My Toys, Boys by Ms Barb, Who Is Afraid of Loud Noise

As Barb considered writing a second book, also a woman with a moderate to severe hearing loss, Barb realized she could include the theme of her hearing loss. She wanted to use the title, “These Are My Toys, Boys” because “GG” played with such things as rubber bands, and drinking straws. Sure enough she was able to capture an image of “GG” finding one of her hearing aids. Barb has developed a passion to educate people about hearing loss. Most adults have difficulty understanding the real needs of hearing impaired people, but young children really struggle to understand. They think, “You’re ears aren’t broken! They look fine!”

These Are My Toys, Boys by Ms Barb, Who Is Afraid of Loud Noise, also with rhyming text, IMG_0155 (2)is a conversation starter for parents, and teachers, to help these early learners begin to understand people who struggle with hearing loss.
